About this site

Goldera Research is a travel guide to the regions of Japan and the hotels worth staying in, published in Japanese, English and Korean.

The site is intended to run as affiliate media. In future, if a hotel featured here is booked through one of our links, the booking platform (Rakuten Travel, Booking.com, Agoda, Expedia, Ikyu, Yahoo! Travel, Jalan and others) may pay us a referral fee. We never sell rooms, take payment, or act as a travel agent. The booking platform is always the seller.

Hotel facts on this site are limited to what we could confirm against a named source — such as each property's official site or official announcements, or established press reporting. Anything we could not verify is left out.

The hotels on this site are chosen by our own desk research. We select on three things: segment (luxury and upper-upscale), how well a property suits visitors from overseas, and spreading coverage across the regions of Japan. No hotel has paid us, hosted us, or given us anything in return for being listed or for its position in a list. The site currently carries no links that earn us a commission. Unless a page says otherwise, we have not stayed at the hotels we describe.
