Goldera Research ("we," "us," or "the Company," referring to the operator of this website, golderaresearch.com) sets out this Privacy Policy regarding the handling of personal information on this website.

We will respond to any such request promptly (this is how we satisfy Article 32, paragraph 1 of Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information, which allows this information to be provided upon request rather than published statically).

2. Information we collect and how

This is a static website. It does not currently have a contact form, and we do not set any cookies of our own. We do not use Google Analytics or any other analytics tool.

The server software (Caddy) that delivers this website automatically records an access log, as ordinary web server software does. Verified against the server's actual log output, each entry contains: the visitor's IP address and source port; the date and time of access; the HTTP method, hostname, and path requested; the protocol version; the response status code, the number of bytes transferred, and the time taken to serve the request; information about the encrypted (TLS) connection, such as the protocol version and the cipher used; and the request headers your browser sends, including User-Agent (browser and operating system), Accept and Accept-Language (content and language preferences), and Referer (the page you arrived from), where the browser sends them. Cookie headers are redacted by the server and are not written to the log. We do not link this access log to any name, email address, or other information that would directly identify a specific visitor, and we do not use it in any way that would let us readily identify a specific individual.

3. Purpose of use

We use the access log described above solely for:

  • Operating and maintaining this website reliably
  • Detecting, diagnosing, and responding to unauthorized access, excessive load, or other technical issues

We do not use this information for any other purpose.

4. Provision to third parties

Except where required by law, we do not provide any information we collect to any third party.

5. Important note on outbound (affiliate) links

This website contains links to third-party websites, including the official websites of the hotels and attractions we cover. It currently contains no affiliate links. We intend to add links — including affiliate links — to third-party hotel and travel booking websites (OTAs) such as Rakuten Travel, Booking.com, Agoda, Expedia, Ikyu.com, Yahoo! Travel, and Jalan. Clicking any outbound link takes you away from our website to that site. Any cookies set, and any personal information collected or used, on that site are governed by its own operator's privacy policy — not by this one, and not under our control. Any booking, contract, and payment happens entirely between you and that operator directly; we are never a party to that transaction.

In future we may receive a commission from an OTA or its affiliate service provider (ASP) when a booking is completed through one of these links. Any such commission is governed by the agreements we conclude with each OTA/ASP, and does not involve us collecting information that identifies you personally. When we begin carrying affiliate links, every page carrying one will show the required advertising disclosure.

6. Disclosure, correction, and other requests regarding retained personal data

We do not currently maintain any database organized so that a specific individual's information can be searched or retrieved (what Japanese law calls a "personal information database"), so we do not currently hold any "retained personal data" (保有個人データ) as defined under Japanese law. Accordingly, we have not yet set up a specific procedure for disclosure, correction, or cessation-of-use requests. If this changes — for example, if we add a contact form or similar feature — we will revise this policy and describe the applicable procedure. Regardless of whether that formal duty is engaged, if you ask us to disclose, correct, or stop using information relating to you, we will respond to your request in good faith using the contact address in Section 7.
